The Beatnik Filmstars
December 7, 2006

Somewhere lost in the britpop brawl between Blur and Oasis, there was an often-missed band called the Beatnik Filmstars. At the time of the said conflict, the Beatnik Filmstars were much more interested in American lo-fi rock bands like Guided By Voices and Pavement (yes, they beat Graham Coxon to the punch) than ruling over the British indie popscene of the late nineties.
The band has recently returned after a seven year hiatus and offer up a new album, In Great Shape, as well as a collection of rarities, Barking: A Collection of Oddities. They are available through 555 Recordings/Darla (in the US).
“Really Quite Bizarre” from In Great Shape.
