Oxford Collapse

November 10, 2006

Brooklyn’s Oxford Collapse, have released a new album on northwest indie great, Sub Pop Records. But more important than where on this album, is when. The cover art features an unidentified individual jumping into a swimming pool occupied by a giant Noid. If you recall, the Noid was the Domino’s Pizza mascot in the early to mid-eighties. It’s a great cover for a great band that sound something like true, old-school college rock (something largely lost, post the Sub Pop grunge explosion of the early nineties). With a new R.E.M. retrospective released and Mission of Burma reunited, perhaps a renaissance is afoot.
