Tokyo Police Club

November 14, 2006

The Tokyo Police Club took the internet by storm earlier this year with the release of their EP, A Lesson In Crime. The 7-song EP, which runs about 16 and a half minutes, is mainly available in the US via the internet (inSound, iTunes). It features smart and quirky garage pop songs like, “Citizens of Tomorrow,” in which the protagonist laments, “I have a microchip/Implanted in my heart/So if I try to escape/The robots will blow me apart.” It’s the sound of Ritalin-addled sci-fi kids just beat up by the Strokes’ bodyguards.
