Clap!Clap!

With eight or so members (including a clap chorus), Austin’s Clap!Clap! brings the party to the party. Known for their buoyant live energy (caught them at the Flamingo Cantina in Austin earlier this year), the fun-loving Rapture-esque percussion-happy indie-dance band are working on a new record. Instrumental bits and pieces on are available the band’s myspace page

From an interview with Austin Sound,the band’s 3 favorite non-Clap!Clap! hand-clap songs: 1. Q and Not U’s “A Line in the Sand” 2. Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now” 3. The Cure’s “Close To Me.”

If their new track, “Lurk for Love,” is any indication, however, the band is out to prove they are more than the sound of one hand against another. “Lurk for Love” is a departure from the Clap!Clap! heard on their Get Naughty EP, and moments in the song recall my fondest memories of rollerskating rink birthday parties. NB: Clapping is technically difficult when couples skating…

Listen: Lurk for Love (unmastered) from their forthcoming new record. Talk Shop and Clap!Clap! from The Get Naughty EP; New Workout Plan(Remix of Kanye West) from Indie Translations of The College Dropout.
